Halloween... in June???

Confession. My son is almost 2 years old, and I have not even completed his 1st year scrapbook! In fact, I am only on month 2! Yikes!!! In my defense, I did have a lot of pictures to scrap from just the first month (a whole book!). Confession #2: I do not have a lot of scrapbook experience. I am an avid card-maker, but I have done very little scrapbooking, so go easy on me!

Since I have a TON of retiring designer series paper, I thought what a better way to use it than in his book? I used some prints from Good Morning Sunshine on this page to mark his first Halloween. More or less, it just reminds me of Fall.

The page starts with a 12x12" Chocolate Chip Textured base. Two strips of DSP were added on the lower portion. A non-SU ribbon (very close to Kiwi Kiss) was used to hide the seam.

My owl and branch are from On Board So Tweet, which are covered in more Good Morning Sunshine DSP. TIP: to get into all those little crevices, I used a hobby blade and cutting mat. I also used an SU sanding block to smooth out all the edges.

Two pewter build-a-brads were used for eyes. I simply used my 1/2" circle punch to pop out circles of dotted DSP and attached them to the base with a glue dot before adhering the epoxy sticker. I used my 1/2" circle punch again to pop out Tangerine Tango circles for some added interest.

The lettering was actually printed out onto Tangerine Tango and Old Olive using MS Word. I snipped out the larger letters using a hobby blade and paper snips. TIP: Make sure to use a hobby blade to cut out the centers of letters before cutting them out with the paper snips.

Bright Delight rub-ons were used next to the title and in the lower right of the card. I love the way they look against the dark Chocolate Chip.

Using my Circle Scissors Plus and glass cutting mat, I cut out my photos and also slightly larger circles of Tangerine Tango for mats. I added a Chocolate Chip stem, leaves and vines to mimick the look of pumpkins. The leaves were created using the 5 Petal Flower punch and Old Olive. The vines were made using my Big Shot and Swirls Scribbles sizzlet.

Easy on yourself! You two look so cute. Part of why I like to scrapbook is remembering those long-past days. Also, your photos remind me that my "baby" Jonathan arrived on Halloween in 1989! He was dressed like a pumpkin a lot that first month, since the sleeper was supposed to be his Halloween costume. He was due October 19th. He'll always be my pumpkin :-)

Let's see... Abigail is 8 months old and I have not even started scrapbooking. I have all the supplies of course... and TONS of pictures... but no ACTUAL finished pages. This is an awesome layout -- and an adorable theme -- even in June! ;)

Well, since this is true confessions time, I have not scrapped any of my son's baby pictures. He will be 20 in November. Great job, Carrie!
