Happy Birthday to you... and many mower!

At first I wasn't so sure about the set "And Many Mower" which is featured in the Occasions Mini-catalog. But the more I use it, the more I am loving it! It is so perfect for making cards and scrapbook pages for the guys in your life.

I used the set a few days ago for a Father's Day card, and now I am using it for my husband's upcoming birthday. This time I used the lawn mower and coordinating sentiment.

The card layout was inspired by the Splitcoast sketch 233 (below). The card stock used for the base is another brand-new In Color Dusty Durango (available July 1). The bottom corners were clipped using a corner rounder punch (the back corners, too!)

Chocolate Chip was used to matte the background patterns. The first pattern is from Patterns Pack Designers Series Paper II (hostess level 1, retiring June 30th). I used the Brocade Blue dots from the package. The second pattern is a piece of Ballet Blue that went through my Big Shot in a Cuttlebug embossing folder. TIP: Choosing Ballet Blue was actually an oversight. Had I realized sooner that the patterned paper was actually Brocade I would have gone with that one. It just goes to show you that things don't have to be matchy-matchy to still look good!

The mower and sentiment were inked up in Basic Black and stamped onto Whisper White. It was then filled in using blender pens and open ink pads in Dusty Durango, Basic Gray, and Creamy Caramel. To create a shadow effect, I created small lines around the bottom and 1 side of the mower using a blender pen and a Sahara Sand pad. The mower was then attached to Chocolate Chip using Stampin' Dimensionals.

Hemp Twine was wrapped around the piece twice and tied in a knot on the front. The bottom right corner was given some attention with two Build-a-brads. TIP: To assemble the brad, I popped out 2 circles of the pattern paper with a 1/2" circle punch. I then attached these to the base of the brad with a couple mini glue dots and adhered the epoxy sticker on top. I didn't want the brad to show through to the inside of the card, so I actually cut off the prongs with my craft and rubber scissors and attached them both to the card with more glue dots.

The inside (not pictured) says "and many mower!" Cute, huh?

Happy Stampin'!
Carrie

I told you I love this, right? Because I do! I even showed my hubby -- he was like, "They make a lawn mower stamp??" LOL ;)

The rounded corners, the art of coloring the mower, those build-a-brads matching the paper-love it all!

I'm so impressed with your use of the blender pens. I have a phobia about watercoloring. Also, how did you get your texturz pattern so crisp . . . are you using water or alcohol to spritz first? Or do you have a secret to your sandwich?

Hugs, Mary
