One Card That Meets Two Challenges

Aren't these new stamps gorgeous? They are from Wings of Friendship, a hostess set that will be featured in the new 09-10 Idea Book and Catalog (to be officially release July 1st- be sure to reserve your copy).

You may have also noticed that this card also features a brand new In Color- Rich Razzleberry- in both card stock and polka-dotted grosgrain ribbon. I am so happy that Stampin' Up went with a purple shade for one of the colors this year!

On to the card:
This card layout was derived from the Card Positioning Systems sketch 120 (below). It also meets the challenge from Our Creative Corner to use a border punch.

This Old Olive Textured base does not have typical dimensions (8"x 4.5") and will more than likely require me to hand-make an envelope, but I love how it turned out! The base is mostly covered in a slightly smaller rectangle of Rich Razzleberry. A strip of Regal Rose took a trip in my Big Shot with the large dot SU Background Texturz plate and was adhered on the lower half of the card.

Two strips of Old Olive and Rich Razzleberry were both punched with the Scallop Border punch. I adhered them together with the scallops facing outward from each other. A piece of Polka-dotted Razzleberry Grosgrain ribbon hides the seam.

Aren't these Jumbo Grommets cool? I used a Very Vanilla one (the package comes with Very Vanilla, Basic Black, Silver, and Whisper White) over the ribbon. I admit that it was a bit tricky to push through, but with the help of my paper piercing tool, I was able to push the prongs through the ribbon and card stock layers. TIP: A bone folder works perfectly for pushing the prongs back (similar to a brad). I tied a small knot out of another piece of the polka-dotted ribbon and adhered it in the center with a glue dot.

The main bird/stem/flower image was stamped three times onto Very Vanilla: Once in Old Olive (this was the main piece that I built off of), once in Rich Razzleberry, and once in Regal Rose. I snipped out the Regal Rose bird, and the Rich Razzleberry flowers and adhered them the Old Olive stem using Stampin' Dimensionals. The corners were all clipped with the corner rounder punch and the piece was matted first onto Rich Razzleberry and then onto Old Olive (where the corner rounder punch was also used).

The sentiment is also from Wings of Friendship. It was inked up in Rich Razzleberry and stamped onto Very Vanilla where it was then popped up onto dimensionals and placed on an Old Olive matte. A tiny piece of more ribbon made a small loop on the right side.

Hope you enjoyed this little sneak peak of some new products!

Happy Stampin'!
Carrie
