Christmas in July Advent Boxes

I keep going back and forth on this project, but thought I should post it anyway to hopefully inspire other creations!

Splitcoast's Ways to Use it challenge (posted yesterday) encouraged the making of Christmas projects with it only being July.

Using my Big Shot, Matchbox Bigz XL die, and Premium Crease Pad, I cut out 12 boxes (for the 12 days of Christmas :). The idea is it is supposed to be a 12 day advent "calendar". Each box can hold 4 Hershey nuggets, or another larger piece of candy.

Before assembling, I put a small rectangle of Old Olive Textured card stock on the face of each box. I also attached a Jumbo brad to each one. Since the container has a mixture of finishes, I randomly did "drawer pulls" in Very Vanilla, Whisper White, and Silver.

All of the assembled boxes were stuck together with Sticky Strip (works wonders for 3D projects!). Pieces of the brand-new DSP The Write Stuff were wrapped around the drawers and the back.

Next I tied some Soft Suede Polka-Dot Grosgrain off to the side. Using the 5-petal Flower punch, I popped out 6 Ruby Red flowers, and 3 Old Olive flowers. Three of the red flowers were scored to look like poinsettias and layered on the flat ones. The Old Olive flowers were cut apart to look like leaves. Each center was dotted with a yellow glittered dot (non-su).

The tag was created using Soft Suede and Ruby Red card stock and the large and small tag punches. I hand-wrote "12 Days of Christmas" but there are a ton of punch inspired Christmas stamps in the new catalog (I just don't have any-yet!). The tag was tied to the ribbon using Hemp Twine.

So is this cute, or a total bust? Feel free to leave comments!

Happy Stampin'!
Carrie

Ohh, Carrie! This is definitely a wow project! I am SO impressed -- I don't think I have the patience to make all those matchboxes, but I'm tempted -- the results are FABULOUS!

I love it! Would have never thought of doing the matchbox drawers for an Advent idea - but I really like your idea!!! So fun! TFS :)

Thanks for the great idea! Fellow demo's and I have a huge event each year called "Gifts Galore" and this could be a great project for our customers. How long do you think it took you to make it (or how long do you think it would take seasoned stampers to create it)? Great idea for the "door pulls", too!!
