Cute as a bug

When I saw these cute little bugs from Love Bug (a NEW hostess set), I knew I had to have it! Do you like it too? Band your friends together and have yourself a little catalog party to earn this and even more free product!

The card layout was inspired by this weeks sketch from Card Positioning Systems. The color scheme was derived from the Sunny Day Simply Scrappin' Kit (all the paper except Whisper White was from the kit).

Here are some highlights for the card:
  • A 5.5"x11" Piece of Tempting Turquoise was scored in half for the base.
  • A couple Sunny Day prints came next.
  • A large Whisper White rectangle made a great back drop for my little bug scene. It seemed to be missing something so I added a small scallop border of Pink Passion (using the Scallop Edge punch).
  • The whisper white rectangle was layered onto a slightly larger piece of Pumpkin Pie, and a 1/2" strip of Old Olive was placed across the lower portion.
  • The greenery was created using my Big Shot and the Little Leaves sizzlet. Tiny Pink Passion 5 petal flowers (using a non-su punch) were dotted randomly on the leaves.
  • The cute bugs, from Love Bug, were stamped onto a scratch piece of Whisper white using Black StazOn, and onto the sentiment rectangle. They were then filled in using a blender pen and Old Olive, Pink Passion, and Tempting Turquoise inks.
  • All of the bugs were heat embossed using Versamark and Iridescent Ice powder.
  • Three of the bugs were snipped out and placed on the card using dimensionals.
  • The sentiment, also from Love Bug, was inked in StazOn and stamped just below the bug.
  • A piece of Old Olive Taffeta was wrapped around the bottom and tied off to the side. TIP: This actually started out as Whisper White ribbon which I colored using an Old Olive SU Marker. Be sure to give it about 10 minutes to dry before attaching to the card.
  • I performed 'surgery' with three Turquoise Circle Rhinestone brads to take the rhinestone out of the metal piece. These were attached to the ribbon using a tiny dot of glue.

My new blog design is coming along nicely and I can't wait to reveal it. Stay-tuned!

Happy Stampin'!
Carrie
